Plastic bottles account for 5.5% of global plastic production, and shockingly, Singaporeans consume the most bottled water per capita. To compound the problem further, only 4% of the staggering 467 million used plastic bottles are recycled in the country. It is evident that a paradigm shift is needed to reverse the trend of single-use plastics and increase recycling rates.
